Japanese hot springs maniacs show great reverence to Takaragawa and quite rightly so. Its literal meaning is ‘Treasure River’ and it slate-tiled pool bubble out only a few meters away from the riverbank. The alkaline waters are believed to have a therapeutic effect, which can counter nervous imbalances and indigestion among many other diseases.

Nestled in the narrow crevices, it seems like the nature has willfully concealed its most precious jewels by the veils of rocks. The pools are fringed by the seaside rocks and run smoothly when the tide is decent. You can spend hours plunging in it and in the process soothe your hears by the sound of swooshing Pacific waters crushing on the rocks.

There’s nothing like frolicking in and around and switching between the ocean and the natural hot spring. The contrast in the hues and temperature is something, which will blow away your mind. In the laid back and picturesque beach town of Shirahama these fantasies comes to life.
