Ilulissat is arguably the town with the most beautiful natural setting
in the world. The houses looks as if precious gems have been scattered over the
valley, and along with the splendid harbor, the houses have Jakobshavn glacier at the background, which
adds icing on the cake to the enigmatic sight. The Ilulissat's
icefjord are fed by the gigantic Jakobshavn glacier, it further claves
icebergs into the Disko Bay. The best vistas of the ethereal 55km glacier can
be seen on the blue hiking trail, which is marked along the coast and provides
tantalizing views of this UNESCO World heritage Site.

Get up close and personal with the Ilulissat’s glacial heaven on a boat
trip. The exotic icefjords are dotted with icebergs some of which are 100m
tall, overlooking the boats voyaging around the bay. From the deck you will see
mounds of ice, getting struck by waves and then melting into vivid shapes.
These other-worldly icebergs bulging out of the waters, glint purple and bluish
light in the permanent daylight of summers.

The summers in Arctic north are deprived of the dark, yes; the sun
never sets here from the early June to late August. So make due provisions of
your so called local coffee (blend of Whiskey, Kahlua and Grand Marnier).
Embrace this achingly sweet phenomenon of nature, indulge in desperation and
revel in unending days. You will be charmed by the harbor sparkling under the
mid-night sun, but do bring some blindfold because you will eventually, be
needing some sleep.
