Halong Bay is undeniably the biggest virtue of Vietnam. It
is no wonder that the place with such marvelous treasures has been sanctioned
as UNESCO’s World Heritage Sites. Dramatic limestone peaks, lush forests,
concealed caves, rushing waterfalls and awe-inspiring ancient sights are the
few of Halong Bay’s countless jewels.
Southwards from Halong Bay is the bounteous Cat Ba, a
verdant green island which lures in the swarms of hikers, bikers and climbers.
And to the east Bai Tu Long Bay, carries forward the legacy of scenic splendor
all the way to the China’s frontiers. Thusly the serendipitous Halong Bay must
be on the travel itineraries of the intrepid travelers of the world.

If you prefer more solitude and want to escape the
hustle-bustle of the Halong Bay, seek refuge in the Cat Ba Island which offers
more tranquility. The Lan Ha Bay here is unblemished and has is unmarred by the
tourism infrastructure and of course, offers pristine sandy beaches. Cat Ba
National Park just next door to Halong bay is an island which is gracefully
shrouded up in green sheet. This park has under its badge, more than 300
enigmatic limestone islands which blemish the waters off the Lan Ha Bay.

Just about 50% of the Cat BA Island was declared as national
park with the underlying intent of protecting island’s rich and diverse
ecosystems. The Vietnamese government was very keen on the preservation of
coral reefs, hills cladded up with mountains and swamp forests lying beside the
feet of the hills. The coastline is heavily dotted with limestone cliffs, but
there are several sandy shorelines and small fishing villages nestled away in
beautiful coves. Numerous enticing waterfalls rush down from the limestone
hills here.
